5th – 9th  June 2017 – In June, Carbon Africa completed a week of site visits for various renewable energy projects in the Lake Victoria region of Kenya.

The firms’ team initially collected data that formed the basis for the preliminary design of potential solar mini-grids in selected sites in the Nyanza region. The visited sites had been identified under an off-grid electrification initiative being implemented by the Rural Electrification Authority (REA), specifically as part of the Government’s Kenya Electricity Modernization Project (KEMP) funded by the World Bank. The firm is partnering with Trama TecnoAmbiental (TTA) and Economic Consulting Associates (ECA) to deliver this work.

In addition a visit was made to a tilapia farming business located in Homa Bay County, where initial data was collated on the potential for developing solar energy solutions. The work was carried out under an ongoing Climate Smart Agriculture support programme being delivered in partnership with Climate Focus.
