Under the EU-Africa Renewable Energy Cooperation Programme (RECP) of the European Union Energy Initiative Partnership Dialogue Facility (EUEI-PDF), Carbon Africa is providing comprehensive insights on emerging renewable energy markets in Africa through generation of publications under the ‘Doing Business Guide’ series.

On August 21st the first publication, a developers guide to stand-alone solar home systems (SHS) businesses in Zambia was successfully published. The RECP developer’s guide reviews the sector status and its main actors, explains the current regulatory framework and provides a step-by-step process for starting a project/business. The broader series covers two further publication types – Model Business Cases that analyse project economics and explore cost-effective investment opportunities; and Case Studies that highlight operational or potential projects/businesses.

The series covers the following further sectors and countries – Renewable Energy Applications in Agricultural Value Chains in Senegal, Captive Power in Uganda and Mini grids in Zambia. All documents due to be published over the coming weeks/months are accessible here.
