Sarah Fortunate
Associate Consultant
Sarah Fortunate is a Climate Change and Environmental Management specialist, with over ten years of experience, who has been engaged in providing advisory services for governments, civil society organisations, private sector and NGOs across East and Southern Africa. As highlights of those engagements, Sarah has consulted for the East African Development Bank (EADB) at the UNFCCC Regional Collaboration Centre Kampala, the Frankfurt School of Finance and Management – UNEP on a BTC/Ugandan Climate Change Department project identifying funding sources for climate change mitigation projects and the GIZ Climate Finance Readiness Programme in Uganda particularly related to the Green Climate Fund (GCF). Sarah recently worked as a Climate Adaptation Specialist, whilst doubling up as the Deputy Chief of Party, on the USAID Education and Research to Improve Climate Change Adaptation (ERICCA) activity as implemented by Family Health International 360. ERICCA supported the establishment of the Makerere University Center for Climate Change Research and Innovations (MUCCRI) as a fully functional, operational, and sustainable centre of academic, professional development and research excellence in climate science, mitigation and adaptation. Sarah holds an MSc. in Climate Change and Development from the Institute of Development Studies (IDS), University of Sussex (UK), and a BSc. Environmental Science Technology and Management from Kyambogo University, Uganda.
