Ash Sharma is a climate & environmental finance, policy and strategy specialist with over 25 years of experience in sustainable energy, waste management and environmental sectors. He has worked in 20 African countries, and globally in 60+. He has held senior management positions in international organisations (notably the Nordic Environment Finance Corporation where he founded and managed the climate finance business); the private sector, including several non executive roles; and the third sector. He is an experienced project manager with good knowledge of international project cycles including Green Climate Fund, European Commission, multilateral agencies, and has worked extensively with European bilateral institutions such as GIZ, SIDA and DANIDA, and donors. Mr Sharma is an adviser to NEFCO, the European Commission, the NAMA Facility and the Climate Policy Initiative, and has contributed to steering and technical groups with the World Bank, UNEP, Nordic Council of Ministers, G8 and G20. He is also a Director and Trustee of UK charity, African Initiatives. Ash holds a BSc(Hons) in Chemistry with Science Policy, and postgraduate qualifications in marketing and finance.
