15 April 2013 – Carbon Africa announces the CDM registration of the East Africa Renewable Energy Programme (EAREP), with a 5 MW small hydro project as the first Component Project Activity (CPA) in Kenya and approval for implementation in Rwanda, making it a multi-country Programme of Activities.  EAREP aims to support small-scale renewable energy projects in East Africa.  Carbon Africa also provided baseline research, stakeholder consultation, CDM Letter of Approval and advisory support to the SimGas Biogas CDM Programme of Activities, which has been successfully registered by Climate Focus, with a first CPA in Kenya.  SimGas’ small-scale technology converts manure and/or other organic waste into biogas that will be used to replace the combustion of non-renewable biomass and fossil fuels.
