Ethiopia Railway Corporation Climate Finance Project (2016)
Carbon Africa and partners assisted the Ethiopian Railway Corporation (ERC) and government bodies to tap into climate finance mechanisms for national railway development and the Addis Ababa light rail project.

Kenya-Japan Joint Credit Mechanism project development support (2016)
Support to the Kenya-Japan Joint Crediting Mechanism (JCM) for climate change project identification, assessment, documentation, development, implementation and regulatory advisory in Kenya and Ethiopia.
STRUCTURING NATIONAL MITIGATION ACTIONS
NAMAs for waste management in Mozambique (on going)
In Mozambique, the company is assisting stakeholders to formulate a bottom-up Nationally Appropriate Mitigation Actions (NAMAs) in the waste sector. In addition, the company is responsible for the implementation of the first pilot Waste Transfer & Recycling Centre
LEVERAGING THE EXISTING CDM PIPELINE
Intended Nationally Determined Contributions Support (2016)
Under the mandate of UNFCCC Regional Centre in Kampala and the East African Development Bank, Carbon Africa supported 26 African countries in considering the role of CDM and market mechanisms within their Intended Nationally Determined Contributions (INDC). The firm continues to develop and manage a strong portfolio of emission reduction initiatives across Africa from innovative household energy access programmes to ground breaking large scale grid connected ventures.

Support to early stage small and medium renewable power projects
Carbon Africa has provided analysis and advisory services to solar PV and small hydro project developers in East Africa, including site identification and assessment, technical, economic and regulatory pre-feasibility studies, obtaining land access and approvals and development advisory. SUPPORTING THE CREATION OF THE ENABLING ENVIRONMENT FOR GREEN GROWTH
Nationwide Demand and Cost Assessment for off-grid electrification in Kenya (2015)
Carbon Africa assisted the World Bank to identify the market size, opportunities and needs for commercially sustainable mini-grids for off-grid rural communities in Kenya. The assessment included information to better understand the options for privately-operated mini-grids across the country.

The ultimate goal of Carbon Africa is to ensure that great projects come alive on the ground in Africa, over the past few years the company has supported numerous ground breaking and innovative initiatives with two recent examples highlighted below:
Gigawatt global Solar PV Project
Carbon Africa is the carbon asset developer and CDM Loan Scheme manager for the first large-scale grid-connected solar PV project in East Africa. The project will raise Rwanda’s installed grid capacity by about 6% from a renewable source.
Project Gaia Cookstove Programme of Activities
Carbon Africa acts as the carbon consultant for an award wining household level cookstove distribution initiative in Ethiopia, Djibouti and Haiti, being responsible for developing the Carbon management programmatic framework and advising on asset monetization. The improved stoves are ethanol based and the project covers the development of a sustainable supply of the fuel.
