Environmental and Social Responsibility

Carbon Africa believes that it is possible to reduce the environmental footprint of business and develop profitable companies based on socially responsible principles. We regard a sustainable private sector as the best vehicle for realizing the New Green Economy.

Carbon Africa strives to achieve the highest level of corporate social and environmental responsibility in its own operations.  The company's target is to exceed global best practice standards wherever possible, from employee working conditions and benefits to internalization and minimization of the environmental impact of doing business.

Carbon Africa reduces its ecological footprint in many respects, from energy consumption to waste management to transport.  Most of our printed material (which is kept to a minimum) uses sustainable paper, which is not easy to source in East Africa.  In the office we compost and recycle.  When moving about, the Carbon Africa team uses public and non-motorized transport whenever possible.

Carbon Africa also encourages and helps its clients and partners to establish green and socially responsible practices, through advice and leading by example.  

In addition, we try to ensure that compliance and voluntary market buyers have first reduced their own emissions as much as possible before turning to the purchase of carbon credits.
